Terms of Use
These terms govern your use of the Speak2Legal website and app (the “Service”), operated by Speak2Legal (“we”, “us”). By using the Service you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. What the Service does
Speak2Legal helps you find and read judgments and orders published by the Supreme Court of India and the High Courts, see how matters of a particular type have been decided, and organise your own matters, hearings, tasks and documents. Some features use automated rules and artificial intelligence (AI) to summarise or analyse orders.
The Service is currently a beta. Features may change, be limited or be withdrawn, and the Service may sometimes be unavailable.
2. Accuracy and limits
- Coverage is incomplete. We do not hold every judgment or order of every court, and our records may lag behind the courts’ own websites.
- Results can be wrong. Court records may contain errors. Our classification of an order (for example, “granted” or “refused”), judge names, extracted text, counts and statistics are produced automatically and may be inaccurate or incomplete.
- AI output can be wrong. Deep analysis is generated by an AI model from the orders shown to it. It may misread an order, miss context or draw a wrong conclusion. We check its quotations against the order text and mark anything we cannot match as “unverified”, but you must read the cited orders yourself.
- Not a substitute for professional judgment. Statistics about a court or judge describe past orders in our records only; they do not predict the outcome of any case.
3. Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
- Give accurate information and keep your password secure. You are responsible for activity on your account.
- Tell us promptly at info@speak2legal.com if you suspect unauthorised use.
4. Your content
You keep all rights in the matters, notes, tasks and documents you save or upload (“Your Content”). You allow us to store, process and display Your Content only to provide the Service to you. You confirm you have the right to upload Your Content and that doing so does not breach any law, court order or duty of confidentiality. Take care with client confidential information; do not include it in deep-analysis questions.
5. Acceptable use
You must not:
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or to harass, defame, intimidate or expose any person;
- copy, scrape, download in bulk or resell the Service or its records by automated means;
- try to break, overload or bypass the security, rate limits or usage limits of the Service;
- upload malware or content you have no right to share;
- present the Service’s output as a certified copy of any court record, or as legal advice from us.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.
6. Court records and intellectual property
Judgments and orders are public records published by the courts and are shown as published. The Service itself — its software, design, classifications, summaries and the Speak2Legal name — belongs to us. You may use results for your own legal research and practice, including quoting orders in your pleadings.
7. Fees
The Service is currently free during the beta. If we introduce paid plans, we will show the price and terms clearly before you are charged, and free features will not become paid without notice.
8. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. We are not liable for any loss arising from reliance on the Service’s records, statistics or AI output, from missed dates or reminders, or from unavailability of the Service. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim (which, during the free beta, is nil). Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
9. Ending use
You may stop using the Service and ask us to close your account at any time. We may suspend or stop the Service, or your access to it, with notice where reasonably possible. Sections 2, 6, 8 and 10 continue after your use ends.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts in India.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. We will change the effective date above and, for significant changes, tell signed-in users in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated terms.
